Is It a Crime To Fake Your Own Death?


The simple answer is yes. I didn’t do world wide research, but I can tell you that in the U.S., the E.U., Canada and China, and in most of the “Western World” it is a crime to fake your own death. Most of the subversive activity that goes with it is a crime as well. You can get in a lot of trouble establishing a new identity under false pretences.


There are places you can learn how to disappear in a safe and legal way. You can learn to vanish and even disappear from friends and family. It just takes time and planning. You don’t even have to be rich to disappear, but wouldn’t that be nice?

Ari Squire was convicted of over billing Medicare for over $800,000. He decided to escape his conviction by committing a murder. He then used the body to fake his own death. He conspired with his wife so he could escape and commit insurance fraud.

Ari became acquainted with a Home Depot employee who looked like him and had the same build. Ari tricked the man in to coming to his house by offering him some work on the side. He then killed the man and started the fire and made it look like an accident.

Ari then made his escape after having his wife call 911 to report him dead. The police were initial taken in by this ruse. They became suspicious several days later when Ari’s mother called to report him missing.

Squire then assumed the identity of the man he killed. Police learned of his location after finding emails he and his wife were exchanging. In his emails, he detailed his location, how he had altered his appearance, and asked how their scheme was going.

Ari shot himself in the head in his hotel room as police moved in to make an arrest. His wife is under indictment for her role in the crimes. The family of the murdered man is suing the squire estate in civil court for wrongful death.

How awful…

I think you can clearly see that a complicated scam gives you a lot more opportunity to make a mistake and get caught. If you want to vanish, if you want to disappear, you will have to sacrifice and make some careful planning.
